Ena Kirima
BASI Pilates Instructor
Ena Kirima received her Pilates training through the world renowned Body Arts and Science International (BASI) program. She has studied under Rael Isacowitz, the founder of BASI, and Karen Clippinger. Ena assisted Rael at the Pilates World Conference in Japan and received an invitation to teach at BASI’s headquarters in Costa Mesa. She has recently taken BASI’s advanced education certificate courses for specialization with specific populations: Pilates for Dancers and Pilates for Injuries & Pathologies.
Born as a twin in Osaka, Japan, Ena lived in Japan until she was 8 years old. Her family then moved to California for educational purposes. In California, she began taking dance classes and trained in ballet, jazz, contemporary, tap, and musical theatre for 17 years, and in Pilates and yoga for 7 years. She received her BA in Dance from Loyola Marymount University with a yoga teacher certification through a 200-hour Yoga and the Healing Science Teacher Training Program in May 2014. Then, from 2015 to 2017, Ena returned to Japan and became a full-time Pilates instructor at BASI Japan in Tokyo. She was grateful to experience her career while immersed in the Japanese culture and language.
Ena has been fortunate to work with legendary instructors in her field and hopes to share that knowledge and techniques with her clients at The Cypress Center. She has a positive, down to earth, outgoing, and energetic personality. Clients comment that she is the “repetition queen” and she challenges clients while laughing and having fun during a session. Ena’s goal is to work with clients and teachers from all over the world and keep educating herself through workshops and courses in order to grow continuously as a Pilates instructor.
