Rosy Fernandez
Licensed Massage Therapist
Rosy was born and raised in beautiful Costa Rica, the happiest place on earth! She was first introduced to massage at age 7, when she would help her father massage her grandmother who had suffered a debilitating stroke. The family left Costa Rica not long after and relocated to North Hollywood, CA.
Rosy received her massage calling after suffering a minor car accident that left her in chronic
pain. After receiving immense relief from her first massage treatment, she knew whole-heartedly that this was her true calling. She received her first certification in Los Angeles at California Healing Arts College in 1996. After 7 years of private practice in Los Angeles and Snowmass, CO, she decided to delve deeper into therapeutic massage and moved to Kona, HI to study at The Hawaiian Islands School of Massage Therapy. She received her certification in medical massage in 2004 after completing 1,300 (+) hours of studies in advanced therapeutic treatment techniques, and extensive anatomy, kinesiology, and pathological studies. Since then, she has continued to expand her knowledge through continuous massage and yoga studies, including receiving her yoga certification in 2007. She has also worked in several chiropractic offices, taught anatomy for two 720-hour massage programs, and has lead treatment technique workshops for massage therapists.
She specializes in prenatal structural work, soft tissue therapy, pain relief from acute and chronic conditions, and treatment for injuries with inflammatory responses. She utilizes therapeutic modalities such as myofascial release, neuromuscular therapy, attachment therapy, lymphatic drainage, and active relaxation techniques. She also offers cupping therapy as a tool to release adhered tissues and decrease pain.
Rosy strongly believes that although massage is imperative in the recovery process from disease and injury, she places more importance on active movement for long-term success. This is why she is so excited to become a piece of the healing pie at The Cypress Center and to collaborate with such a diverse and talented team of movement and therapy specialists.
Rosy loves being a part of an active community in Venice Beach. Next to massage, music and dancing are her greatest passions. She often she travels east of the 405 to enjoy the amazingly diverse music scene that LA provides, and she can’t live without KCRW! Food is also one of her favorites. Rosy takes pride in her highly evolved palate which can deconstruct the ingredients in just about any dish, and she loves to pretend she is a food critic. She is a fan of whole foods cooking and loves to post food selfies from “Rosy’s Kitchen” and share her recipes. She is also an avid traveler. Most recently, she spent two weeks in Brazil during the 2014 World Cup, where Costa Rica reached the quarter finals for the first time ever!
