Physical Therapist
Rebecca (Becky) is originally from Ohio, where she graduated from Miami University with a BS in Education. She taught middle school science for 4 years while preparing to apply for a graduate program in Physical Therapy. She was accepted to UCSF in 1972, and graduated with a BS in Physical Therapy in 1973. She worked in Connecticut for a year as a Clinical Instructor for Quinnipiac College Physical Therapy program while her husband completed his Residency in Pharmacy at Yale University.
They then moved back to California, where Becky spent 4 years working at USC/LAC Hospital in various units, from burns to outpatient orthopedics. She worked as the Director of Outpatient PT at UCLA from 1980-1985.
In 1985, Becky opened Kern & Associates Physical Therapy in Santa Monica, which she owned and operated for 32 years. During this time, she attained both her Master of Science (MS) and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) at USC; as well as her OCS (Orthopedic Clinical Specialist) in the State of California. She became the first off campus site for USC’s clinical Physical Therapy Residency Program. She was the master mentor for over 16 clinical residents at her clinic, and was on the Adjunct Faculty of USC.
In 2017, Becky merged her clinic with Rehab. Specialists, who at the time primarily specialized in Women’s Health issues. Becky is proud to now join the Cypress Center and work as a clinician with a variety of diagnoses. She particularly enjoys working with orthopedic patients who have complex issues, and she is very experienced with Chronic Pain Syndromes.
Becky is widowed and has 2 adult daughters, 2 sons-in-law, and 2 granddaughters. She is an animal enthusiast! She and her family have a miniature donkey, 5 horses, 1 dog and 4 cats. Her other hobbies are traveling and reading.
